Welcome

Our Approach to Education

Journey School began in August of 2018 as a community of learners living in the gold coast of Costa Rica with the plan to grow purposefully and in a spirit of excellence.

Over its first year, Journey School grew to over 100 students with a maximum capacity of 150 students to always maintain a ratio of just ten students for every one teacher (10:1).

Our school utilizes a project-based, student-led curriculum, and offers individualized lesson plans as well as group project opportunities. We offer ample opportunities for student leadership as well as honors, AP and college level classes.

US accredited by Cognia (formerly AdvancedED and Measured Progress), Journey School’s central tenants continue to be kindness, empathy, compassion and academic excellence.

This Is Why

Journey of Costa Rica

1.

Student Focused

Curriculum designed around the needs of each student, meeting youth where they are developmentally and academically, allowing for customized class schedules.

2.

Small Class Sizes

Our strict 10:1 ratio allows educators to tailor daily lesson plans to the pace and passions of students, in addition to fostering deeper interpersonal relationships.

3.

Electives to Inspire

Beginning in second grade, Journey students are offered exciting place-based electives, such as veterinary science, skateboarding, drama and studio arts.
